Options

The great thing about Red Onion switches is that they are all fully customizable, you can choose and add whatever options you like including case size and color (case styles).

  • Add any option to any pedal, final cost of pedal will depend on which options you choose
  • Any layout can be changed - jacks, switches, LED's can all be moved
  • Minor changes such as layout or moving the position of jack do not cost anything

Please email us with your request and we will respond to you within a day with updated pricing and a layout diagram - info@redonionsolutions.co.uk

A-B Switches and Loop Switch Options

Ground Lift
Lifts the ground of one or more outputs and reduces the possibility of ground loop hum.
Includes a small toggle switch to select ground lift.
A good low cost option for A-B Routers, and A-B/Y switches.

Isolation Transformer
The best way to remove ground loops hum using a high quality audio transformer to totally isolate the two outputs so ground loops are almost impossible to create.
This design is still 100% passive with no additional buffers.
Essential consideration for A-B Routers and A-B/Y switches. More details

Tuner Mute
Mutes the output to the amp and routes the signal to the external tuner via tune output jack.
True bypass of the tuner ensures no sound degradation.
Can be added to any A-B or Loop Switch.

Passive Volume Control
Similar to a guitar volume control, this allows you to control the volume of individual channels or the output of the entire switch. May also include a switch to control when it is applied (including LED indication).

Battery Option
Adds an internal battery connector and clip for a 9V battery.
Note that switches do not include an internal battery connection as standard

Master Bypass (MB)
Bypasses all effects using a single footswitch, a must have for multi-loop switches, can also be applied to specific loops only. LED indication shows when active.

A-B Switch
Allows you to switch between two outputs (selector style) or two outputs (router style), LED's show which channels are active.

Amp Loop
Allows you to add true bypass control to an effects chain in the amps effects (send/return) loop.
This is a good option for controlling effects which work best in the amps send/return channel (chorus, reverb etc) but still need true bypass switching.
Includes separate input, send, return & output. Can be added to A-B and Loop switches.

FX Loop
Similar to Amp Loop option but allows you to move the effects loop from the amp send/return channel and route it into the next loop on the loop switch. Can use a standard footswitch or toggle switch, includes LED to indicate when active. An ideal solution for effects which you want to be able to use 'before' the amp and sometimes in the amps effects loop, for instance a delay pedal sounds great in front of the amp on clean settings but for distorted/overdriven sounds is much better in the amps effects loop. This option allows you to do this without having to re-route all of your cables.

Intermediate Loop
An un-switched loop which can be inserted between switched loops, allowing you to insert effects at the correct position in the effects chain but without the need for a full switched loop.

Mixer Control (Blend)
Mixes the 'wet' signal from the effects loop with the 'dry' signal direct from the switch input. Can include a toggle or footswitch to control when it is applied (including LED indication). Individual LED's show which output is active.

Wet/Dry Outputs
Allows you to choose either the dry (un effected) or wet (effected) signal for each output using a toggle switch and LED. Works with A/B Router or A-B/Y option.

General Purpose Switches

Case Styles
Dual switches (latching and momentary) are available in case style A and B (cases). Style A is small and is ideal for crowded pedal boards, style B offers better stability when the switch is not used on a pedal board.

Patch Leads
Red Onion supply mono and stereo patch cables

Hardwired Stereo Cable
A Stereo cable is wired into the switch at manufacturing stage, allowing easy connection to unit without the need for you to find a stereo cable. Any length is available on request

LED's
Latching switches are available with LED's, however some pedal's may require a power supply depending on what amp or effects unit it is used with. For instance if the amp's design does not support an LED on the footswitch, the pedal will need a power supply or battery.

Mono Jacks
All dual and triple switch (latching and momentary) have a stereo jack as standard, this can be replaced with mono jacks if this suits your application e.g RC20 or Cube-60 etc
